Event for Chief Sustainability Officers (CSO) and Sustainability Champions
While leading businesses have long been engaged in efforts to integrate sustainability at the core of corporate strategy and decision-making, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provide us with a new lens through which to translate global needs and ambitions into business solutions.
These solutions will enable companies to better manage their risks, anticipate consumer demand, harness the potential of historic growth markets, secure access to needed resources and strengthen their supply chains, while moving the world towards the delivery of the SDGs and a more prosperous society for all. Converting the SDGs into meaningful and widespread corporate engagement will hinge upon the efforts of Chief Sustainability Officers and sustainability champions working to embed the goals into corporate strategy.
To support these endeavours, the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA), through its Division for Sustainable Development, will host an event on July 19, 2017 during the Ministerial segment of the High-level Political Forum (HLPF).
Leaders from business, government and international organizations will exchange information, catalyse collaboration, and share lessons on the business implications of the SDGs and how leading companies are working to scale up sustainability.
