Gregory Holliday

Director, 50L Home

The 50L Home Coalition is a hosted platform in WBCSD dedicated to lowering water and energy usage in the home through public/private partnerships that test and scale innovative, sustainable solutions. The goal is to one day bring people’s water usage down to 50 liters per person per day, but with better products, delivery systems, and regulations, it will feel like 500 liters.

Prior to joining WBCSD, Greg was a U.S. diplomat for 22 years. He served in Latin America, Africa, Asia, and Washington D.C. in a number of policy areas including human trafficking, migration, transnational crime, counter-piracy, citizen security, and water. In addition to policy work and intelligence analysis, he developed and managed international programs in some of these same issue areas, working closely with partners in foreign governments, civil society, international organizations, and the private sector.

Most recently, he was a consultant developing international water initiatives. He helped a U.S.-based non-profit and its foreign partners make their WASH (water, sanitation, hygiene) and menstrual health programs more sustainable. He also consulted with WBCSD on a transboundary and urban water conservation program along the U.S.-Mexico border.

He has a Master of International Affairs degree from Columbia University in New York City, and a Bachelor’s degree from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota.

He lives in Washington D.C. with his two teenage daughters.
