China Director & Ambassador for CBD COP15, WBCSD. Wei Dong Zhou is responsible for setting the strategic direction of all of the projects of WBCSD and in charge of China office operation and key stakeholders’ engagement. He is also Chief Advisor of Business for Nature (BfN) in China.
He established China Alliance of Green Consumption and Green Supply Chain (GCSG) as Executive Secretary-General during 2017-2019. Mr. Wei Dong Zhou joins WBCSD with more than 20 years of experience in Chinese government, non-profit organization management, sustainability strategy, Climate & Nature, and multinational companies.
Prior to joining WBCSD, Mr. Zhou established TSC China office as Managing Director for 5 years. Before that, he worked as Business for Social Responsibility (BSR) China General Manager for 8 years. At BSR, Wei Dong founded the China offices in Beijing and Guangzhou, providing advice and counsel to BSR’s member companies and their sustainable supply chain partners for CSR and Sustainability issues.
Mr. Zhou graduated from Qingdao University of Science & Technology with his Bachelor’s Degree in Machinery Engineering and later obtained his master’s degree in Asian Business Studies from the University of London (SOAS) in UK. He also had six months Business Development Training at Cambridge University.
Weidong spent his first 10 years in Chinese government system and SOEs’ sector; and had 20 years of work experience across public policy, civil society, NGO, CSR & Sustainability for private sector and multi-lateral institutions. Strong network in public affairs and NGOs sector, and good relationship with major government agencies and policymakers from central to local government; and particular like MEE, NRDC, MOC, MIIT.
Weidong enjoys exploring and travel, as well as sports and hiking. He has been traveling to 70+ countries of five continents.
